Making Film Look Less Like Video
Some short films shot in HD become too shiny for a real film affect. One part of this relates to the Frames per second. Also we can put a colour filter on the edited film to make it less shiny.

Location Change
Location change
Since we cannot film in the local theatre we have decided to film in an office at college. This is easier and we can personalise it to look as we would like. We have decided to bring in books and desk accessories for the desk that the loan shark will sit on. Although we were hoping for an old fashioned desk and room, we believe the blank canvas of the college office will work fine.
Desk accessories we may bring in:

Individual analysis of a title sequence + screenshots + links
I have chosen to look at the title sequences of similar short films, this allows me to see the techniques used that we could take into consideration when we are creating ours.
The first title sequence i looked at was for 'Black Button'
This is the first shot is the first thing that pops on the screen it says: GOD WILL NOT SUFFER YOU TO BE TEMPTED ABOVE THAT YE ARE ABLE. In black capital blurred font on a simple plain white background. Then the quote is completed with the name at the bottom right corner which also appeared after the dinging sound.
The first three shots make up a quote taken from the bible Corithian 10:13. It means that no temptation has overcome you only that what is common to mankind, god is faithful and he will not allow to to become tempted beyond what you can cope with, but when you are tempted he will provide a way so that you can cope it.
This links to Black Button as the judge tries tempting him into pressing the button for money.
This links to our film as the loan shark tries to tempt her into killing someone for money.

The title of the film starts to fade in.
The title of the film becomes clear again in a similar font but larger and bolder.
It then cuts to a shot of the judge and the film starts.

Emailing Local Theatre
Due to one of our film scenes being in an old office we have asked the local theatre if we can use their facilities.

Changes
Video Questionnaire-Changes?
We have changed the target audience for the film. As most people are expecting the film to be a certificate 15, we should aim our film to 15+. Also we have decided to make the film a bit more Mystery as the audience questionnaire showed that people expected it.

Video questionnaire
Video Questionnaire
Following the results from our online audience questionnaire we have started working towards a video questionnaire.
We printed a copy of our storyline and gave it to students and tutors in our college social area, we then set up the camera and filmed each person as we asked them the same questions that we had put on our online questionnaire to gain a verbal and instant response as they didn't previously know the questions we were to ask, so no answers we were planned before.
We then transferred the footage from the tape to Final cut express so we could edit the clips to show the variety and comparisons in the responses we received.

Location issues
Whilst me and Maddison were creating a shot list and drwaing up a storyboard we identified that there were a few issues on the locations of certain shots been filmed and resolved each issue.
Issue 1 - on the match on action shot of her walking into the door that we would have a problem because the inside of the door would look totally different. To get around this issue we have decided to change the location so that it looks like she is in an office building. We will change the script accordingly.
Issue 2 - in the shot of her coming downstairs to open the empty fridge, we figured that her walking down the steps wouldn't make sense as we had stated in both the storyline and script that she lived in a run down flat. To resolve this issue we have changed the storyline and script to show that she is looking after her friends and house sitting whilst she is away.
From the questionnaire we are also looking at what we can change from the audience responses.

Changes
Questionnaire results - Changes?
Our first feed back questionnaire had 34 responses. This consisted of 20 females and 14 males. As our feed back is most females this could lean the responses to a more female view. This means our film would be aimed towards females.
Our next question was to see if the audience would be able to choose an appropriate certificate for the film as we were undecided between 12 and 15. However, due to there being no bad language, drugs, violence only implied. We have chosen 12.
The next question we asked was to see what our audience actually like from films and their prefered genre. However, most responses like comedy. Others liked psychological, crime, thrillers and mysterious which are all subgenres of our film.
Summary of Audience Questionnaire Responses
From gathering the information and responses to our questionnaire we summarised the responses in graphs on Google drive.
Four people answered correctly however the film does have a few sub-genres which were all given as an answer therefore our genre is coming across quite clearly.
What do you like about our storyline:
These are the following summary's:
Gender:
What certificate would you expect it to receive:
From this we could see that the certificate we have given our film - 12/12A needed reconsidering as the majority of people thought it was a 15 - to resolve this we are going to edit the storyline and script to make it have the conventions of a 15.
What is your preferred genre:
From this we can see that the majority do prefer comedy films however the rest of the answers people chose are sub-genres of our main genre
Do you understand the storyline:
This shows us that most people do understand however it may need explaining more simpler and easier for others to understand.
Where would you expect to see our film:
What genre do you think our film is:
